The Local Missions Committee is in the process of planning involvement activities for next year. November’s meeting will be used to brainstorm ideas to better involve the congregation in Local Missions’ projects. If you would like to participate, watch the Sunday bulletin for the time and place.
The committee would like to remind the congregation we collect canned hams for the Ronald McDonald House. Contact Wilba Helms for details. We also sponsor a bread ministry that delivers over 100 loaves of bread a month to local agencies.

Angel Tree: Siler decorates a Christmas tree each year with names of needy children and adults, provided by the Union County Department of Social Services. It's a joy to fill the requests! Please contact Ruth Thompson if you would like to help.
Back to School Drive - each August/September, we collect backpacks and school supplies for kids who will not have them otherwise. These items are distributed through Union County Department of Social Services. Contact Bob Moore for more information.
Brain Injury Support Network: -----> Brain Injury Persons & Their Families. This annual event has grown over the years and is now co-sponsored by Siler's Local Missions and The Union County Area Brain Injury Support Network (UCABISN). Contact Peggy Philbrick if you would like to help.
Common Heart: A food ministry located in Indian Trail that Siler has supported through volunteers working individually as well as a church wide workday. http://www.thecommonplace.org/
El Rophe Christian Counseling: is a unique Christian counseling ministry for individuals and families. By blending the Word of God with sound clinical psychiatric principles, our staff seeks to bring healing to any and all persons-body, mind and spirit. http://elrophe.org/
Five Cents a Meal: The last Sunday of every month, after the "Moments with Children" part of the worship service, pockets are emptied for the children of the church who take their little baskets around in the congregation to collect change for this meal program. Each member is encouraged to set aside 5 cents per meal during the month to be donated to a church support food ministry.
Healthquest: a licensed non-profit pharmacy that provides free prescriptions to residents of Union, Anson, Stanly, Lancaster and Chesterfield counties who cannot afford prescriptions for their chronic medical conditions. http://www.healthquestpharmacy.org/home.html
H.E.L.P. Crisis Pregnancy Center exists to represent the voice of the UNBORN child. In Ezekiel 33:1-9, the Lord commands us to sound the alarm. We are to be the watchmen standing on the post warning the people. We are to be the voice of God in the earth. http://www.monroehelpcpc.net/
Hospice: Hospice of Union County is a concept of care that involves health professionals and volunteers who provide medical, psychological, and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Operation Reach Out: Food donations are collected on the first and third Sundays of each month for the Christian nonprofit organization in Monroe, NC focused on honoring God by meeting people where they are in life’s circumstances. Operation Reach Out aims to serve both the body and the soul by providing emergency food, clothing, furniture, utilities and medication as well as a daily Bible study and lunch. Prayers and Squares Quilting Ministry is a ministry of the church that provide a prayer quilt to people in need. After the church presentation members of the congregation tie prayer knots in the quilt that will be presented to the recipient. Contact Dona Haney for more information.
Recycled items: collected in the bins on the table in the Nursery Hall in the Huneycutt Building.
Prescription Pill Bottles - are taken to the Matthews Free Medical Clinic, who is able to buy certain
prescriptions in bulk and repackage for uninsured, needy families. Pat Boswell and the Morning
Box Tops - are collected by Wilba Helms and the Seekers SS Class, for the Retired Teachers Group who
buys schools supplies and distributes to the neediest schools in the area.
Can Pull Tabs - are taken to the local American Legion who delivers a truckload to the Ronald
McDonald House in Durham. All sizes and colors are acceptable. Wilba Helms and the
Seekers SS Class coordinate.
Restoration House Ministries: The purpose of Restoration House is to reach out to lost and broken people. Our immediate focus is the homeless, men and women who have been released from the prisons, jails and are coming off the streets. We seek to provide them an environment conducive to building and disciplining them for the Lord. http://www.restorationhouses.org/
South Providence School Outreach: Siler provides volunteer assistance as well as staff and faculty support to this alternative school located in Waxhaw. Contact Dona Haney for more information.
Transitions: Siler's annual conference on Aging Issues, with presenters from area organizations who provide legal, financial, and health care geared toward seniors, their caregivers, and those who hope to BE seniors one day. 2017 Conference
Turning Point: is committed to “turning our community away from domestic violence” and providing victims of domestic violence and their dependent children with safe shelter while they learn how to break free from the abuser. http://wwwturntoday.net

Union County Crisis Assistance Center: A ministry dedicated to providing short-term assistance to local families and individuals in a crisis by supplying resources to meet their basic needs.
