Meet your Mission Discovery team
On July 1, 2012, a team of 22 – 11 youth and 11 adults – will fly to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to serve as one of three Mission Discovery teams in Eden, Jamaica. We’ll work at the Jamaican Christian School for the Deaf on repair projects as well as lead a children’s Bible school in Eden. We return to Siler July 7.
Back (l to r): Steve Rodgers, Kent Staude, Bruce Powell, Perry Sommers. Middle: Mary Alex Staude, Morgan Sommers, Savannah Hargett, Jane Staude, Michelle Hage, Jessica Morgan, Sherry Chase, Mary Waller, Carrie Powell. Front: Isabelle Hage, Elizabeth Staude, Chloe Hage, Peter Nelson, Sarah Waller, Maria Polizzi, Sarah Rodgers. Not pictured: Lindsay and Bill Jones.
Our trip budget is more than $28,000, we’ve already paid $15,400 to Mission Discovery and $2,200 to USAirways to hold our tickets. Thank you for the support you’ve shown through our fundraising efforts – work projects, lunches, eating at LaStrada and Chick-Fil-A (both of which are donating a portion of sales to our trip), playing in the golf tournament, donating and buying items at the yard sale, and simply being generous.
We still need to raise more than $10,000 to buy our airline tickets before June 1. We continue to perform weekend projects, such as moving mulch, pruning shrubbery and staining decks.
Most of all, we covet your prayers. Please bathe us spiritually as we continue to prepare for what God has in store for us. And pray for those we will minister to – that they are prepared to receive God’s Word and work.
Donations can be made to: Siler Presbyterian Church. Please put “Jamaica Mission Trip” in the memo line.
